Rails and Mounts

I've been to multiple Airsoft retail sites and have come across scopes that are listed as being for dovetail mounts, and others for weaver rails. It generally seems that each site has all of one or the other, so it almost seemed like they might be separate names for the same thing. Could someone please tell me what difference, if any, there is between the two?

Dovetail Mounts are typically for Airguns and Small Caliber Handguns/Rilfes. Weaver/Picatinny mounts will work on Airsoft and the Real Weapons they are replicating.
